Woman Accused Of Having Forged License Plate In Yorktown

Police said the Fishkill woman was also driving with a suspended license and no valid registration.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Fishkill woman was accused of having fake license plates after a traffic stop in Yorktown.

The Yorktown Police Department said Summer F. Johnson, 24, of Fishkill, was charged Tuesday with third-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, a misdemeanor.

Police said, around 3:30 p.m. March 22, an officer was sent to the Jefferson Valley Mall to check out a car that appeared to have invalid registration and rear side windows that were not transparent.

The vehicle was located and a traffic stop was initiated on Hill Boulevard.

An investigation and computer check at the scene found that Johnson’s driving privilege in the state was suspended and the car was not registered, police said.

She was arrested and processed at the scene.

Further investigation found that Johnson had a forged temporary Alabama license plate, which was affixed to the car at the time of the incident, police said.

She was contacted and voluntarily surrendered Tuesday at Yorktown Police Headquarters.

Johnson was released on her own recognizance to answer the charge in Yorktown Justice Court June 13.
