Yorktown Approves Road Paving Plan
Highway superintendent Eric DiBartolo says he plans to pave more than 4 miles of Yorktown roads.

Yorktown town board members approved the concept for a plan presented by Yorktown highway superintendent Eric DiBartolo on Tuesday to pave more than four miles of roads in town.
"We've been getting a lot of calls from people about paving," DiBartolo said.
A total of $834,803 is needed to pave 15 town roads (or 4.6 miles of roads), which DiBartolo said are in a bad shape. The town will receive $296,000 from the state Consolidated Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS) and the rest of the balance would be funded from the town's fund balance as well as money the town receives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to cover expenses from Hurricane Irene.

DiBartolo said 10,700 tons are needed to pave the roads and asked town board to allocate $300,000 from the town's reserve fund to cover the paving costs. It is not yet known the exact sum of money the town would receive from FEMA.
The roads planned for paving (starting as early as in the next two weeks) are: Avid Court, Belle Court, Broad Street, Carr Street, Foxmeadow Street, Front Street, Hanover Street, Hickory Street, Larkspur Street, Lawrence Road, Lexington Avenue, Somerstron Road, Sutton Hill and Wendell Lane.

"We're trying to mix it up and do a little bit of each section [in town]," DiBartolo said. "People want their roads paved."
