Yorktown Area Organization Offers Book Club for Women With Cancer

The book club will meet June 16 in Cortlandt Manor.

(Yorktown Heights, NY) Support Connection, Inc. announces the next session of their Book Club for women with cancer. It will take place on Thursday, June 16, from 7-9 pm at Cheryl R. Lindenbaum Comprehensive Cancer Center at New York Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital, 1980 Crompond Road, Cortlandt Manor, NY 10567. Open to people living with breast, ovarian and gynecological cancers. To learn more or to pre-register (pre-registration is required) call Support Connection at 914-962-6402 or 800-532-4290.

At this Book Club session we will discuss Clara Parkes’ The Yarn Whisperer: My Unexpected Life in Knitting, a collection of captivating, poignant, and laugh-out-loud funny essays. Join us as we explore an entertaining, well-knit tale of metaphors stitched between yarn and life. Reviewers Ann Shayne and Kay Gardiner of Mason-Dixon Knitting say: “In this collection of beautifully wrought essays, Clara explores the territory where knitting overlaps with a life well lived.” Come and enjoy the camaraderie and the spirited discussion while spending time with other women who have heard the words “you have cancer.”
