Yorktown To Begin Flushing Fire Hydrants
The town said there will be a daily list of which streets are affected on its website.
YORKTOWN, NY — Fire hydrants will be flushed in parts of Yorktown beginning next month.
The Yorktown Consolidated Water District will be flushing fire hydrants in parts of sections 4, 5, 6 and 7 beginning May 1 and continuing through June 30, between the hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Flushing of fire hydrants may cause some discoloration of water. Officials said this does not represent a health hazard.

However, customers are cautioned to determine if the water is clear before washing clothes — or any other processing — because staining may occur.
If you experience discolored water, run the cold water in all your faucets until it clears.
The Water District said it regrets any temporary inconvenience that may be experienced. The flushing program is necessary to maintain a good water supply for both firefighting and domestic consumption.
