Yorktown Cop, School Nurse Receive Awards for Saving Teacher's Life

Yorktown police officer Angel Garcia and Lakeland Copper Beech Middle Schoool nurse Patricia Schurr received the Life Saving Awards last week from the town of Yorktown for saving the life of a woman earlier this year


On April 1, 2013, substitute teacher Janice Mills suddenly collapsed in an eighth-grade classroom where she was working as a teacher's aide. She had suffered a cardiac arrest. Mills told Patch earlier this year that without everyone's help that day, she wouldn't be here today.
