
A 39-year-old Yonkers man is facing criminal charges in Yorktown after he attempted to steal five power tools from a department store, police said.
James J. D'Amico was charged with fourth-degree attempted grand larceny, a misdemeanor.
Police said they received a call from Sears security personnel that a man had attempted to steal five assorted power tools valued at $1,569.95 and that he had fled the scene in a cab. Officer Michael Pietraniello was dispatched and while on route he spotted the cab in question on Route 6.
D'Amico was arrested on May 19 and processed at police headquarters. He was remanded to the Westchester County Jail on $5,000 bail.
The man was scheduled to appear in Yorktown Town Court on Tuesday, May 21.
