In a statement, Murphy said some of his notable achievements on the board have included the "historic tax cut, shrinking the size of town government, completing passage of the comprehensive plan and attracting over two dozen new businesses to Yorktown."

If elected to a second term, he said he would focus on continuing to attract job creating projects to Yorktown, traffic mitigation and infrastructure improvements in Crompond, Shrub Oak and Mohegan Lake, addressing local flooding, tree trimming, increased sewer capacity and new wastewater treatment facilities, combating the flow of illegal drugs, and holding public utilities such as NYSEG and ConEd accountable for storm preparation and management.

"With dedicated public servants like Dr. Terrence Murphy, Yorktown has emerged as a prominent community in Westchester County for our children, families and businesses," Senator Greg Ball said in a statement. "Terrence and I work so well together because we put people over politics. I'm proud to support Councilman Murphy and most importantly, call him my friend. He has always been there for me and the people of Yorktown and together we will continue to fight for economic progress and smarter growth."

Murphy is seeking the Yorktown Republican Town Committee nomination. He said he will also seek the endorsement of the Conservative and Independence Parties.

"My motto has always been common sense for Yorktown," Murphy said. "We are delivering the results Yorktown residents deserve, reducing spending, cutting taxes and creating jobs, but there is far more to be done to improve the quality of life for all residents of Yorktown."
