Yorktown Farmstand; Student Orientations; Therapy Dog Romeo in Somers

• Yorktown Board of Education members will meet tonight at 7 p.m. at Mildred E. Strang Middle School's cafeteria. Click here for the agenda.

• Somers town board members will meet at Van Tassel Memorial Park on Aug. 26 for a special meeting at 5 p.m. 

• Members of the Advisory Board on Architecture and Community Appearance (ABACA) will meet on Tuesday, Aug. 27 at 8 p.m. at the Yorktown Community and Cultural Center, Room 209 (Top floor near elevator).

• The "new to the school district" student orientations at the Yorktown Central School District will be held on Monday at 8:45 a.m. at the middle school, 9:45 a.m. at Brookside and Mohansic schools and 10:30 a.m. at Crompond School.

• The Somers Board of Education will meet on Tuesday, Aug. 27 at 4 p.m. at Somers Middle School, room 246.

• The Somers School District's fall sports coaches will meet parents of athletes on Aug. 27 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

• Therapy Dog Romeo will offer listening ears for reading practice at the Somers Library from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The program is open to all children who are able to read on their own.

• The Somers Library is hosting a book club for children in kindergarten through second grade on Aug. 29 at 3:30 p.m. Read a book together, share a snack, and play word games or make a craft. Registration is required.

• Hilltop Hanover Farm's farmstand in Yorktown is open on Aug. 30 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
