Yorktown Flea Market Opens June 9

The Yorktown Flea Market, run by Ellen Gershman, is opening for the second year in a row on Sunday, June 9 at the Yorkown firehouse.

Gershman loves antiques and has been to various flea markets and antique shows over the years. She opened her first flea market last year because she too wanted to provide the same feeling of satisfaction to bargain shoppers as she experienced when finding a great item.

"I am very excited to be able to run the flea market for a second season," she said.

The flea market will open on June 9 and then again on June 16 and every other week going forward. It will be in the same location - the fireman's field, behind the firehouse (the entrance is between the Animal Hospital and the VFW on Veterans Road.

"The market will feature primarily vintage and collectible items, but we have decided to expand the variety of vendors to include fine art, crafts and other items," Gershman said.

The flea market will run every other Sunday until the end of October. The hours for the public are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission and parking are free.
