Each year The Foundation for Excellence honors a person or persons who personify "excellence" in our community. This year, the FFE will honor Monica Garrigan, Jane McCarthy and Donna D’Andrea at the Foundation's annual Spring Gala dinner dance. Read more about them .
2. Back to School Concert Benefitting Somers SEPTA

The second annual Somers back-to-school concert is on Sunday, Sept. 23 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The concert will benefit Somers SEPTA. Pack a blanket and enjoy the show at Primrose Field.
3. Somers Cheerleaders to Hold Fundraiser

The Somers Cheerleaders are holding a fundraiser at Patsy's Pizzeria (Route 202 and Lovell Street) on Thursday, Sept. 20 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. 10 percent of the proceeds will go toward the cheeleaders.

5. Speed Enforcement Detail in Cortlandt
State police from in Cortlandt conducted a speed enforcement detail Tuesday that resulted in the issuance of 48 tickets for a various speeding, unlicensed operation and not wearing a seat belt.
