Yorktown Helicopter Crash, Costco Public Hearing, 'The Skeleton Crew'

Here are five things you need to know today, Oct. 15.

1. Helicopter Crashes at Kitchawan Farm in Yorktown

A helicopter crashed at a Yorktown field Friday evening. It happened around 6:30 p.m. at a private residence at 716 Kitchawan Rd. – at the working Kitchawan Farm. Police said the two helicopter occupants were not seriously injured and they refused medical attention. Read more in our story.

2. Costco Public Hearing Today

The public hearing on the 151,092-square-foot Costco store will be held on Monday, Oct. 15 at the Nutrition Center room in the Yorktown Community and Cultural Center. 

3. 'The Skeleton Crew'

More than 40 everyday phrases are depicted and illustrated with bones at the Yorktown Museum now through November. The Yorktown Museum is located on the top floor in the Yorktown Community and Cultural Center. Museum hours are Tuesday and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. 

4. Children's Tag Sale

The Yorktown Community Nursery School is hosting its annual Children's Tag Sale on Saturday, Oct. 20 and Sunday, Oct. 21 at 9 a.m. Collected are gently used toys, books, clothes and baby equipment. The school is located at 247 Veterans Road.

5. Cloudy and Cold Monday Weather

According to the National Weather Sevice, there is a chance of showers on Monday, mainly after 3 p.m. It is expected to be cloudy, with a high near 69.
