Yorktown Lions Club Summer Concert Series, Farm Stand for the Season, Awards Night
Here are five things you need to know today, June 6.

1. 2012 Yorktown Lions Club Summer Concert Series & Performers
The first concert of the season will start on June 17 at 6 p.m. at the Jack DeVito Memorial Park Gazebo inYorktown Heights.

2. Farm Stand and U-Pick for the Season
is opening its farm stand for the season on Friday, June 8. It will be open every Friday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The U-Pick for the season opens on Saturday, June 9. It will be held every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
3. Grade 8 Awards Night
The Spring Chorus Concert is tonight at 7 p.m. Also, at 7 p.m. is the Grade 8 Awards Night. Congratulations to all students.
4. Venus in Transit
Venus began its transit last evening as it passed between the Earth and the sun. This event only happens twice every century. Learn more and watch a video blog about what happened . Did you catch Venus in tansit?
5. Hudson Valley VA Honored for First Responder Initiative Program
The Department of Veterans Affairs Hudson Valley Health Care System's First Responder Initiative Program, which involves going out into community and educating about the needs of returning veterans, was recently honored at the First Responders Recognition Ceremony held at the Putnam County Emergency Operations Center Auditorium in Carmel. Hudson Valley VA Communications Director Nancy Winter accepted the awarded on behalf of the Program. Congratulations to the Hudson Valley VA, which includes the Montrose Campus.
