A 22-year-old Yorktown man is facing drunken driving charges after he was stopped for traffic law violations, police said.
James V. Robibero was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor; having a blood alcohol level of .08 percent or more; a misdemeanor; unsafe start, modified exhaust, speed not reasonable and prudent, all traffic law violations.
Police said the man was at the intersection of Commerce Street and Route 202 on May 11 at 4:09 a.m. When the signal turned green, he did a "long burnout" and headed westbound on Route 202 at a speed that was "not reasonable and prudent," according to a police report. In addition, police said Robibero's vehicle had a loud, modified exhaust.
When police stopped the man, it was revealed he had been driving drunk.
Robibero was arrested and processed. He was later released to a family member and scheduled to appear in court on June 13.
