Yorktown Native Receives Award for Extraordinary Commitment at Skidmore College

Alissa Marie Belcastro, who graduates next Saturday from Skidmore College, has received the Katherine Scranton Rozendaal Citizenship Award.

Alissa Marie Belcastro, a 2008 graduate and now a senior at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY, has received the Katherine Scranton Rozendaal Citizenship Award.

This award is given to a maximum of five graduating Skidmore seniors for their extraordinary commitment to enriching the life of the Skidmore community through individual responsibility, distinguished leadership and significant involvement in co-curricular activities. Recipients of this award must also have remained in good academic standing and have maintained an excellent social conduct record throughout their tenure at Skidmore. 

Alissa’s involvement included being a Head Resident in Residential Life, a Founding Member and President of Skidmore's Chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary, and a Founding Member and Musical Director of the Treblemakers, Skidmore's only all-inclusive a capella group.

Alissa also received the Bronze Pin through the National Residence Hall Honorary. The Bronze Pin is the highest honor that a chapter can give to an individual member, and is awarded to someone who has provided leadership and direction to the campus organization. She received this due to her contributions in getting the group officially chartered, pioneering a residential leader recognition program, and her involvement in bringing DKMS Americas, the world's largest Bone Marrow Donor Registry, to campus.

Alissa is graduating on Saturday, May 19 with a double major in Business and Classics.
