Yorktown Heights native Erica Wenzel, who is a junior second baseman at Muhlenberg College, has been named to the All-Centennial Conference first team and the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll after helping her softball team to a record season.

To be named to the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing who is a starter or key reserve on her team and carries a cumulative grade-point average of 3.40 or higher.

A double major in mathematics and environmental science, Wenzel made the All-Centennial Conference squad for the third consecutive year. It was her second straight time on the first team after earning second-team honors as a freshman.

She hit .273 overall and was third on the Mules in both runs scored (27) and RBI (23). Wenzel hit a grand slam as part of a six-RBI performance against NCAA Tournament participant Finlandia and struck out only twice in 58 CC plate appearances.

She recorded her 100th career hit during the season and ended the campaign one short of 100 runs. The Mules finished with a record of 31-9-1, setting a College record for wins by any team in any sport.

They went 14-2 in the CC to finish in first-place by a record-tying four games and earn the right to host the conference playoffs for the first time ever. They also received votes in the national Division III poll for the first time in more than 20 years.
