Yorktown Performers at the Appolo Theatre, Child Passenger Safety Week, Town Board Meeting Tonight
Here are five things you need to know today, Sept. 18.

1. Charles A. McTygue Jr. Passes Away
Our deepest condolences to the McTygue family. Charles A. McTygue Jr., former Westchester County civil engineer and long-time Yorktown resident, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 16. Read more about him here.
Family will receive friends at the Yorktown Funeral Home in Shrub Oak on Tuesday, Sept. 18 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be at St. Patrick’s Church in Yorktown Heights on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in McTygue Jr.'s memory to Rosary Hill Home, located at 600 Linda Avenue, Hawthorne, NY 10532.

2. Watch Two Yorktown Performers at the Appolo Theatre
Zerena Lupo and Kristina Koller, both from Yorktown Heights, will be playing at The Apollo Theater in New York City as part of Amateur night on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 7:30 p.m. If you want to watch them at The Apollo, the Yorktown Teen Center has arranged free bus transportation, leaving the Teen Center parking lot at 5:30 pm. and returning after the show.

3. Yorktown Town Board Meeting
Yorktown town board members will meet tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall. Click here for the full agenda.
4. Happy New Year!
Jewish people all over the world are bringing in the year 5773. Locally, students at Yorktown, Lakeland and Somers school districts are off for the religious observances. School resumes Wednesday morning.
5. National Child Passenger Safety Week
National Child Passenger Safety Week goes through Saturday. State police, local law enforcement agencies and highway safety professionals are working together to organize child safety seat events throughout the state. State police will place additional emphasis in making sure that child safety seats are secured properly in passenger seats.
Safety seat inspections can be scheduled at the Westchester County Department of Public Safety by calling Ellen Chadwick at (914) 864-7671.
