Yorktown Presbyterian Preschool Director Retires After 25 Years

All Yorktown Presbyterian Preschool graduates are invited to attend a service and reception to honor Connie Stringer who is retiring after 25 years on the job.

The longtime director and teacher of the Yorktown Presbyterian Preschool, Connie Stringer, retires after 25 years on the job and will be honored with a service on Sunday, June 3. 

"Getting to know whole families and watching them evolve and grow up has been one of the greatest pleasures of this job," Stringer said.

While at the school, she developed the parent cooperative model which requires parents to assist in the classroom on a rotating basis.

"This lets parents see what is going on," said Stringer, who earned her Master's in Early Childhood Education. "It allows them to be partners in preparing the children for elementary school and beyond."

All Yorktown Presbyterian Preschool graduates are invited to attend the 10:45 a.m. service and the reception following at 12 p.m. at the , located on 2880 Crompond Road. Cards and monetary gifts are being collected in the church office.

After many years of teaching 3 and 4-year-olds to hang up their own coats because "there is no maid service" and telling kids to "use your inside voices" while in the classroom, Stringer is looking forward to spending more time with her husband BJ and her sons and grandchildren.
