YORKTOWN, NY – The Yorktown Central School District will offer a pre-kindergarten program in September, and the deadline for parents to apply is May 25.

The program will be run by the YMCA of Central and Northern Westchester and will operate at the French Hill School on Baldwin Road from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There is no cost to the district’s families to enroll in the Pre-K program, but if a child requires before- or after-school care, the YMCA will offer that service for a fee.

“Educators across the country recognize that pre-kindergarten helps kids develop their social and learning skills, so I’m pleased that this important service is now available to the families that want it,” said Supervisor Tom Diana.

Parents can register their children by clicking this document and following the instructions.

The school district has 188 seats available in the program. Based on the results of a survey, school officials anticipate having enough seats for every eligible student. A student is eligible to participate in the program if they reside within the Yorktown CSD catchment area and will be four years old by Dec. 1.

If more than 188 children are registered for the program, the district may hold a lottery. Submissions after May 25 will only be accepted if there is space in the program and will be offered in the order in which they are received until the maximum enrollment number is reached.
