Yorktown Voters To Decide On $108.8 Million Proposed School Budget
The 2022-23 spending package is almost $7 million more than the previous school year's.

YORKTOWN, NY — Voters living in the Yorktown school district will be going to the polls Tuesday, May 17 to decide whether or not to approve a $108.8 million budget for the 2022-23 school year.
The proposed spending package represents a budget-to-budget increase of $6.9 million, or 6.77 percent.
The Board of Education will hold a public hearing on the budget at 7 p.m. Monday in the Yorktown High School auditorium.

Among the factors in the spending increase are pension costs going up 10 percent to 10.5 percent and health insurance premiums going up 6 percent.
District officials estimated the tax rate for the Yorktown to be $1,020.25 per $1,000 of assessed value, up $19.10 or 1.91 percent from 2021-22. For New Castle, it the estimated tax rate is $111.61 per $1,000 assessed value, down $5.53 or -4.72 percent. For Cortlandt, the estimate tax rate is $1,441.95 per $1,000 assessed value, down $17.25 or -1.18 percent.

There are also six people running for three trustee positions. They are Michael Capalbo, Richard Giannasca, Frank Panebianco and incumbents Reshmi Bose, Cheryl Reynolds and Lisa Rolle.
The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the French Hill School, 2051 Baldwin Rd. in Yorktown Heights.
