Yorktown Woman Assaults Victim In Front Of 2 Children: Police

Authorities said she used a Swiffer sweeper to hit the other woman in the head.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Yorktown woman was accused of assaulting and keeping another woman from calling the police — all in the presence of two children.

The Yorktown Police Department said officers were sent shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday to a report of a domestic incident.

Police said they met with Tara Mann Feldman, 43, of Yorktown, and the victim and began an investigation.

The officers said they found Feldman had taken the victim’s cell phone, preventing her from calling the police, and blocked the front door, preventing her from leaving the home.

Feldman also struck the woman in the head with a Swiffer sweeper, police said.

Authorities said there were two children — ages 11 and 14 — in the home at the time of the incident.

Feldman was arrested and taken to the Yorktown Police Department for processing.

She was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, second-degree unlawful imprisonment, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and third-degree attempted assault, misdemeanors.

Feldman was arraigned in the Yorktown Justice Court, where a temporary order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim.

She was released on her own recognizance to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court April 27.
