Yorktown Woman Drove Drunk With 3 Children In Car: Police

Police also said she had an open container of alcohol in her vehicle.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Yorktown woman was arrested after being accused of drunken driving with three children in her car.

The Yorktown Police Department said Julia Cushman Branda, 33, of Yorktown, was charged Monday with three counts of aggravated driving while intoxicated — child in car, felonies, and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, misdemeanors.

She was also charged with other misdemeanors, including driving while intoxicated, first offense, and driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of 0.18 percent or more.

Additionally, police said Branda had an open alcohol container in the car, for which she received a traffic violation.

Police said, around 3:40 p.m. Monday, an officer was sent to a one-car accident on Route 6 in the area of the Taconic State Parkway.

The officer said Branda had been drinking and had three children, all of whom were under the age of 15, in her car.

She was arrested and taken to the Yorktown Police Department for processing.

A relative of the children was contacted by the police and took custody of them at the scene.

After being processed, a judge issued a temporary order of protection on behalf of the victims. Branda was released on her own recognizance to a responsible adult.

She is scheduled to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court Dec. 1.
