1 Dead Following Early Morning House Fire In North Charlotte
A man is dead following an early morning fire in his north Charlotte home, according to reports.
CHARLOTTE, NC — An early morning fire in a north Charlotte home claimed a life Wednesday morning and caused nearly $120,000 in damage, according to Charlotte Fire.
According to fire officials, 23 firefighters responded to the home located in the 2100 block of Edison Street shortly after 3 a.m. The blaze was controlled in about 20 minutes, Charlotte Fire said.
Firefighters "removed one occupant from the structure; unfortunately the occupant succumbed to their injuries," Charlotte Fire said, via Twitter.

According to WSOC, neighbors told the news station that there had been a power outage in the victim's home earlier in the day, and that flames were spotted shortly after power was restored. Eyewitnesses said flames shot up as high as 40 feet.
The fire remains under investigation, however fire officials said "the cause [was] deemed accidental."
