Charlotte Officer Charged With DWI, Carrying Concealed Weapon
CMPD officer Lorenzo Knaff was arrested in Union County over the weekend, and now faces a driving while impaired charge.
CHARLOTTE, NC — A Charlotte police officer was arrested in Union County Sunday, and now faces charges of driving while impaired and carrying a concealed weapon, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said Monday afternoon.
The charges stem from a July 26 incident when CMPD officer Lorenzo Knaff was stopped in Union County by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, CMPD said.
"It is always disheartening to me when I learn that one of our officers has violated the very laws that we are sworn to uphold," CMPD Chief Johnny Jennings said in a statement. "Professional accountability is a priority for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, and our officers are expected to maintain this standard at all times."
