Charlotte Police ID Woman Fatally Shot In Car At Shopping Center
Charlotte police released the name of the 27-year-old woman who was found shot in a car parked in a shopping center; she later died.
CHARLOTTE, NC — Police have released the name of a woman found fatally shot in a car parked in north Charlotte shopping center late Tuesday afternoon.
Officers located the woman — whom they later identified as 27-year-old Katie Elizabeth Eckerd — shortly after 5 p.m. after they received a call reporting an armed robbery in the parking lot of 2800 West Sugar Creek Road, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said in a statement.
"When they arrived, they located a female victim in a parked vehicle who had been shot," police said. She was transported to an area hospital but was later pronounced dead.

The shooting occurred during "some sort of altercation" and involved two additional victims who do not have life-threatening injuries, police told WSOC.
