ECU Health Cancer Care hosts pop-up holiday shop, Santa's H.O.P.E., for patients (witn.com) — Greenville cancer patients at ECU Health will soon be able to “shop” for free gifts for their families through Santa’s H.O.P.E., a pop-up store set up inside the hospital. Community members are invited to donate new, unwrapped presents or money so more oncology patients, including those in treatment or inpatient, can safely choose holiday gifts without crowded stores.

Dec. 13 Community News (reflector.com) — Greenville residents have several free or low-cost community events coming up, from Chamber networking meetups at Awaken Coffee and The Oakwood School to the Festival of Trees at the Greenville Convention Center. You can also ring in the New Year early at Noon Years Eve downtown, attend an economic forecast luncheon, and join MLK-focused unity and interfaith celebrations in January.

As congestion climbs, truck drivers feel the squeeze from four-wheeler traffic again (landline.media) — Drivers in Greenville, N.C., are among those seeing traffic congestion double this year, according to a new national analysis that highlights how post-pandemic driving habits are clogging roads again. The report details billions in lost productivity nationwide, worsening delays in many cities, and how increased vehicle miles traveled may be slowing traffic but coinciding with fewer deadly crashes.

High school hoops heat up as New Bern Bears dominate West Craven Eagles 81–43 (wcti12.com) — DH Conley’s Greenville girls basketball team had a tough night, scoring just 14 points in a lopsided loss to undefeated Hoggard as part of a busy slate of eastern North Carolina hoops. Judge Isgur Says Trustee's Settlement Demand in D&O Insurance Dispute ‘Reasonable,' Insurer's Refusal ‘Wrongful' (texaslawbook.net) — A federal bankruptcy judge in Houston ruled that an insurer wrongly refused a $4.65 million settlement demand but cannot yet be forced to pay it. The dispute stems partly from damage to crypto-mining containers stored in Greenville and Texas, leaving the insurer exposed to potentially higher future liability if it continues to deny coverage.
