- As part of the accelerated main replacement program to replace pipes that are 25 years old or older, the Columbia Gas project is retiring the old, bare steel and cast iron pipes and replacing them with plastic, which is less likely to leak and doesn’t corrode. The project started in Avon eight weeks ago and is expected to be completed sometime in April. (cleveland.com)

- There has been some misinformation orbiting around the City of Avon Lake regarding backyard chickens. To set the record straight, maintaining or harboring of livestock (which includes chickens, cows, steers, etc.) is prohibited unless the property is approved as an agricultural use in accordance with the City's Planning and Zoning code. Part twelve of the City's Codified Ordinances, which can be found here. The agricultural use is not permitted in any zoning district but is a conditional use in the R-1A and R-1B districts, and requires a minimum lot size of five acres. Additionally, a recommendation from Planning Commission and City Council approval is also needed. (City of Avon Lake, OH via Facebook)

- Avon Youth Wrestling Club: "Avon Youth Wrestling had a great [weekend] at the BWA League Championship Tournament at Garfield Heights!! We brought 7 wrestlers to the tourney and 3 of them placed in the top 6 out of 16 man brackets!" (Avon Youth Wrestling Club via Facebook)
