- Have you ever wanted to know more about the Iditarod? Join Iditarod enthusiast Eleanor Csizmadia today at the Avon Lake Library from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. as she shares her almost two-decade-long passion for the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. According to the write-up about her from the library, Csizmadia has visited the race three times, most recently in the winter of 2022. Her favorite part of visiting the race is being there for big moments, such as when a future champion leaves the starting line. Eleanor loves the excitement of following the race every year from her home in North Ridgeville. You can follow all of her Iditarod excitement and trivia on her Facebook page: Iditarod Trail Talks (https://www.facebook.com/IditarodTrailTalks). Hope to see you at the library today for the talk. From my notebook:
- FIDO's Companion Rescue: "Meet Skye! Skye came to us from a rural shelter and is a true mutt! She's approx. 4 years old, a petite 30 pounds, fully vetted, and working on crate and potty training. Skye is nervous around new people but comes around quickly. She loves other dogs and is good with cats. Skye loves toys and treats and is very cuddly. A home without small children would be best for her. She must have a home with another confident well adjusted dog to take the lead from. Skye is living with a trainer learning how to be the best girl. She already knows "kennel up" and "shake" and is learning her other basic commands. - Avon Lake Public Library: If you've ever wanted to restore a piece of furniture or repair a family heirloom, these restoration clinics are for you. Beginning Tuesday, March 7, and continuing on each Tuesday evening through April 4, restoration professional, Greg Linn will share his restoration magic with you. Classes will be held at Beach Park Railway Museum in Avon Lake. Sign up today for these free clinics or for more information via the Avon Lake Historical Society at #440-549-4425 (leave a message or send a text) or email at heritageavonlake@gmail.com.
