At Avon Lake's beaches, which greatly draw from the west side of Cleveland, swimmers enjoyed significantly cleaner water this week, just in time, as temperatures are reaching into the low 90s.
Pictured are beaches at Miller Road Park and Veterans Memorial Park in Avon Lake where the E. coli count at both beaches were under 34 organisms per 100 ml.
The sample was taken yesterday.
Bacteria counts over 235 organisms per 100 mL are considered unsafe for swimming. So get out there and enjoy Lake Erie's waters.
Reminder: only Veterans Memorial Park staffs a lifeguard.
For updated e. coli counts, visit Avon Lake Municipal Utilities Facebook pages, which reports bacteria counts.Â
