Here are the top three stories in Cincinnati today:
- Brandon Freeman, a 53-year-old Cincinnati Fire Department lieutenant, was arrested and is facing multiple charges, including assault and obstructing official business. Freeman is accused of grabbing a woman by her neck and slamming her into a wall causing a visible injury to the back of the woman's head. He is currently on leave without pay, and Cincinnati city officials say the administrative fact-finding will begin today, Feb. 6. (WLWT Cincinnati)
- Over the weekend, many people in Cincinnati came together for the nationwide event, "A National Day of Action, Justice for Tyre," at the New Prospect Baptist Church in honor of Tyre Nichols, a man who died last month after being beaten by Memphis police officers. Iris Roley, a longtime activist who was one of the organizers of the event, said, "What we hope that people leave here with and what they will leave here with is a call to action so we can continue to build and to make Cincinnati better." - The Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden is starting to plan for its annual “Zoo Blooms” celebration, which begins Saturday, Apr. 1. During the "Zoo Blooms," there will be more than 100,000 tulips, one million daffodils, flowering trees, shrubs, and other spring bulbs.
