Victory Vistas to offer temporary relief for elderly residents facing rent increases (wcpo.com) — Elderly residents at the Victory Vistas complex in Cincinnati’s Paddock Hills are getting temporary help covering steep rent hikes after owner Chinedum Ndukwe partnered with local nonprofit SO-ACT. While state housing officials say the new rents comply with federal limits, Legal Aid argues tenants were promised much lower 30% AMI leases and still fear homelessness as the subsidy only runs through March 1, 2026.

'Common sense': New system in Ohio will alert residents when inmates escape jail (local12.com) — Ohio residents, including those in Cincinnati, will soon get loud, Amber Alert-style notifications when inmates facing felony charges escape from jail under a new law signed by Gov. Mike DeWine. The Escaped Convict Alert Program, backed by bipartisan lawmakers, will plug into existing emergency systems and can add up to three years to an inmate’s sentence after capture.

Local station WKRC highlights a Cleveland clinical trial of inhaled insulin that proved as safe and effective as injections for children, and could win FDA approval as early as May, potentially pairing with pumps to simplify daily care.
