• Cincinnati opens daytime shelter due to dangerously cold temperatures (local12.com) — Dangerously cold weather has prompted Cincinnati to open an extreme winter daytime shelter at the Saint Anthony Center, offering warmth, food, and supplies for unhoused residents. Partnering with St. Francis Seraph Ministries, the city can serve hundreds, with free bus transportation to the overnight shelter on Gest Street and hours from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday.
   

• County sells historic OTR building for residential conversion (local12.com) — Hamilton County has approved the $12.1 million sale of the historic Alms & Doepke building in Over-the-Rhine, clearing the way for 150 new apartments along Central Parkway. Two-thirds of the units are planned as workforce housing, plus ground-floor retail, a rooftop event space, and fitness room, with opening targeted for early 2028.
   

• Cincinnati Approves $8.1 Million Settlement With Protesters Arrested in 2020 (insurancejournal.com) — Cincinnati has approved an $8.1 million settlement with 479 non-violent protesters arrested during the 2020 racial justice demonstrations, closing a years-long legal battle over their treatment. The deal, funded mostly by the city with a smaller share from Hamilton County, follows dismissed curfew charges and allegations of police brutality, wrongful arrests, and poor jail conditions.
