1. University of Cincinnati receives transformative $3.4M gift from alumnus (local12.com) — A multimillion-dollar estate gift from UC alumnus Stephen J. Helman will fund new scholarships, co-ops, and mental health support for University of Cincinnati students. The $3.4 million donation creates two endowments, including one honoring his mother, a longtime nurse, and is being hailed by university leaders as a major boost to nursing education and student wellbeing.
   

2. Local country club to host professional golf tour (local12.com) — Maketewah Country Club in Bond Hill will host the LPGA’s Kroger Queen City Championship in 2026, bringing the pro women’s golf tournament inside Cincinnati city limits for the first time. The move adds another marquee event to Maketewah’s long tournament history and could boost both the club’s profile and local interest in professional golf.

WATCH: Police officer pinned, dragged by driver during traffic stop in Newtown (wcpo.com) — A Newtown traffic stop turned dangerous when body-camera video shows an officer briefly pinned and dragged by a driver in what police describe as a Greater Cincinnati incident. The 20-year-old driver is accused of reversing with the officer caught in the door, causing minor leg and hip injuries, before fleeing. He’s now held in the Hamilton County Justice Center on bond, with another court date set this month.

Columbus, Ohio, Enacts New Pay Transparency Ordinance Requiring Salary Ranges in Job Postings (natlawreview.com) — Cincinnati already has a pay transparency rule, but this piece explains how Columbus just went further by requiring salary ranges directly in most job postings.
