Here are the top three stories today in Cincinnati:
- The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is developing a plan to replace the pedestrian bridge system connecting Van Meter Street in Mt. Adams with E. Court Street in downtown Cincinnati. Planning for the project is scheduled to take place in 2026 and is estimated to cost approximately $6.6 million. "Alternative 1" is the preferred alternative chosen by the ODOT based on public input and preliminary results of a feasibility study. This plan would construct a new replacement bridge adjacent to the existing pedestrian bridge. (WCPO 9 Cincinnati)
- Cincinnati Police are investigating an apparent homicide in North Fairmount. On Saturday, Jan. 28, police received a call about a shooting on Pulte Street, but as of Jan. 29, there is still no information regarding a victim. (Local 12 News)
- Cleveland-based Beerhead Bar & Eatery, a new-to-market restaurant, recently opened the first of four Cincinnati locations. On Jan. 18, the first location opened at 5277 Kings Mills Road in Mason. The restaurant has an "extensive craft beer focus." (WKRC TV Cincinnati)

- Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval was criticized for his tweet ahead of the anticipated AFC Championship game over the weekend. It read, "Whereas Joseph Lee Burrow, who's 3-0 against Mahomes, has been asked by officials to take a paternity test confirming whether or not he's his father." Many called the tweet an unnecessary and unappealing remark. (WLWT 5)
- Cincinnati-based writer and illustrator Loren Long is collaborating with best-selling author Jason June on a new children's book, "Never Forget Eleanor." Long lost his father to Alzheimer's 10 years ago and connected with the book about a young elephant dealing with his grandmother's declining memory. The Bookshelf in Cincinnati is helping launch the book release on Feb. 14. (WCPO 9 Cincinnati)
