- At 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 19, the Greater Cincinnati Water Works (GCWW) closed the Ohio River intake to prevent contamination from traveling down the river after the train derailment in East Palestine. GCWW officials said they have been testing the water since the derailment and will continue to monitor the river to decide when to reopen the intake in the future. (WLWT Cincinnati)
- Around 4:00 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, witnesses told Cincinnati Police that a group of young people was vandalizing multiple vehicles in downtown Cincinnati. Police are searching for the individuals who were last seen traveling north on Race Street and breaking into multiple cars at businesses in the area. (WLWT Cincinnati)
- The Cincinnati Zoo announced its "Backyard Bird Challenge" and is asking the community to help scientists protect birds and their environments. To participate, just keep track of the birds you see for at least 15 minutes. Participants can count the birds they see, the type of birds they see, or any information such as large flocks. Afterward, submit the information at birdcount.org. (FOX19)
