Mom Of Akron Man Shot 60 Times By Police Grieves, Seeks Answers

1) The mom of a 25-year-old Akron man who was shot 60 times Monday night by police told 3News WKYC on Thursday she doesn't understand why this happened. Jayland Walker was a standout high school wrestler and had never been in trouble, other than one speeding ticket. Police say he sped away from officers trying to make a traffic stop, led them on a 4-minute chase, ran from his car and died as eight police officers fired 90 rounds, striking him with 60 shots.
- Walker had been grieving the loss of his high school sweetheart, who died in a car crash last month.
- Police said a gun was found inside his car.
- “Why? Why did this happen in such a manner, such a terrible, terrible way,” Walker’s mother, Pamela, told 3News WKYC.
- The officers are on leave and the Ohio Bureau of Investigations is reviewing the matter.
2) Snip snip. Vasectomy appointments are on the rise at the Cleveland Clinic after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. In less than a week, 90 vasectomies have been scheduled. That's more than three times the normal rate of three to four per day.

3) Arthur Treacher's celebrated its 50th anniversary Thursday. If you thought the famous fish and chips chain had gone out of business years ago, that's understandable. There's just one location left in all the world and it's in Cuyahoga Falls, 1833 State Road. Customer appreciation days are planned for today and Saturday.

4) An 18-year-old dad is accused of killing his 13-week-old baby on Cleveland's West Side. A baby wipe was found in the infant's throat. The baby, named Traveon Hughes, died at about 9 a.m. Saturday in a house on West 81st Street. The dad, also named Traveon Hughes, faces murder charges.
5) A crime ring stole checks and other items worth more than $1.5 million by using stolen mailbox keys, according to the feds, and used people recruited from Instagram to cash the checks. As of Thursday, 11 people face federal charges of bank and mail fraud in a wide-ranging conspiracy. One man, Cameron J. Proctor, 20, of Willowick was indicted for theft of mail by a postal employee.
🎨 You CAN Invest In Million-Dollar Artwork
Are you a Cleveland resident looking for an investment alternative to the stock market?
Bloomberg recently asked experts where they’d invest $100,000 right now, and many of them had the same answer: fine art.
Thinking you can’t afford a Picasso? Well in 2012, Congress passed the JOBS Act, which allowed for the securitization of artwork. A company called Masterworks.io built the largest platform for buying and selling art securities. In the past, you could only buy shares of companies like Apple, but with this investing app, you can unlock this powerful investment.
Meaning, you can invest in shares of million-dollar artwork. And in uncertain times, it turns out, fine art may be a wise investment. Here’s why:
- Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
- Contemporary art historically returns 23.2% when inflation is >3%
- Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164% (1995-2021)
