Asian Lantern Festival Given Extension

Ohioans will have extra time to see the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo's Asian Lantern Festival.

CLEVELAND — You'll have a little extra time this year to go see the popular Asian Lantern Festival at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo.

The festival was extended through Sept. 26, giving Northeast Ohioans more time to see the dazzling display of outdoor lights illuminating evenings at the zoo. An additional drive-thru date, Sept. 15, was also added to the calendar.

“Each year, the community response to Asian Lantern Festival has been tremendous,” said Cleveland Metroparks Chief Marketing Officer Kelly Manderfield. “We are excited to be able to extend the opportunity for even more visitors to make memories with their friends and family at this unique, outdoor event.”

More than 122,000 people have already attended this year's Asian Lantern Festival, whihc includes 70 new display and over 1,000 lanterns, alongside acrobatic performances and culturally-inspired cuisine.

This year's festival also includes an opportunity to ride the new Eagle Zip Adventure zip line. The ride is located near Wade Hall and flies rides backwards, 150 feet above Waterfowl Lake. The car then descends 700 feet, hitting speeds of 35 mph. The ride is $8 per ride or $7 for members.

Zoo members going to the Asian Lantern Festival will pay $18 per person or $54 for four-pack. Advance non-member costs are $20 per person or a four-pack for $60.

Same day tickets can be purchased at the Box Office for $22 or a 4-pack for $66. Drive-through tickets are $54 per vehicle for members and $60 per vehicle for non-members. Children under 2 are admitted free.
