A 38-year-old was killed on Scottwood Avenue and an 18-year-old died after being shot on Lakeview Road, and detectives have not yet released further details. Residents in these neighborhoods may notice an increased police presence as the investigations continue.

2. Cleveland nurses say taxpayer-funded facility made them sick, expert calls for testing (cleveland19.com) — Cleveland nurses say they became sick while working at the Cuyahoga County Diversion Center, where city health inspectors later found mold throughout the taxpayer-funded facility. A local mold expert reviewing the nurses’ photos is urging broader testing, while Cleveland’s Department of Public Health has given the operator until year’s end to remove mold and fix leaks before a final inspection.

3. ‘A not so merry start;' ODOT crew hit by OVI driver (whio.com) — An ODOT District 12 crew working in the Cleveland area was struck by a suspected impaired driver early Christmas Eve, marking the 122nd time a crew has been hit this year. Officials say people ran from the vehicle and alcohol was found inside, and they’re urging Cleveland-area drivers to stay sober or arrange a safe ride through the rest of the holiday season.

4. Iconic Christmas movie character discusses his experience (wkbn.com) — Cleveland fans of “A Christmas Story” get a nod as actor Zack Ward, who played bully Scut Farkus, reflects on how the 1983 film has become a cherished holiday tradition. He describes meeting generations of viewers who treat him like family, while the story reminds readers that the movie’s iconic house is right here in Cleveland.
