The 18-year-old driver suffered multiple serious injuries, police said, including head trauma.

CLEVELAND — An 18-year-old drove his car off the Opportunity Corridor and crashed into a pole on early Saturday, Cleveland police announced.

Just after midnight, a 2006 Mercury Montego was headed east on the Corridor. Police believe the driver was speeding when he lost control of the car, rolled through the intersection on E. 55th, went of the road, hit a bridge abutment and then collided with a pole before the car came to a stop.

When EMS arrived, they gave first aid to the driver and rushed him to MetroHealth Medical Center for treatment, police said. The 18-year-old suffered multiple, serious injuries, including head trauma, during the crash, police said.
