Cleveland Cops Support Autism Awareness at Republican National Convention

Two Cleveland police officers take time to recognize young man and raise autism awareness during the RNC.

CLEVELAND, OH — East Fourth Street during the Republican National Convention has been an overload for the senses, with activity everywhere and all of the ingredients for problems to arise. This atmosphere has kept Cleveland police and the other agencies assisting with the RNC on high alert. See Patch RNC day 3 update here.

One sign in particular caught the eye of Cleveland officers Sgt. Tom Ross and PO Darian Laska on Wednesday night; a young man with autism was holding a sign requesting that people take a picture of him with his sign and post it on social media with the following hashtags: #autismawarenessmonth, #helpingotherswithautism, #autismspeaks, #autismawareness, #lightitupblue and #LIUB.

Ross and Laska both have sons on the autism spectrum and took time to show support and pose with the man.
