Good English Removed from Stonefield and Go'on Gunslinger Billing at Beachland Ballroom Due to Ties With Rapist

Venues are dropping Good English from their schedules due to their drummer's relationship with convicted rapist Brock Allen Turner.

Dayton band Good English will not be playing the Beachland Ballroom on June 18, while Stonefieldband & Go'on Gunslinger will play the show without it.

Good English was removed from the bill after its drummer, Leslie Rasmussen, wrote a letter exalting the character of convicted rapist and former Stanford swim team member Brock Allen Turner.

Turner was given an unusually light six-month sentence by Judge Aaron Persky because jail could “have a severe impact on him."

The judge added that Turner "will not be a danger to others," a perception that was perhaps formed by letters like the one Rasmussen wrote in support of him, notes nymag.com/thecut.

The Beachland is just one of several venues which have canceled Good English shows because of Rasmussen's affiliation with Turner. Recently, the New York Northside Festival canceled the band's June 10 show, and here in Ohio, the Ace of Cups in Columbus canceled it Good English show, saying, "We don't condone victim blaming or support rape apologists."
