CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Browns may have won the last game of their season, but their quest to reach the postseason still fell well short. The team finished third in the AFC North, behind rivals Pittsburgh and Cincinnati.

Finishing the season 8-9 is a jagged pill for Browns fans to swallow. Like so many Cleveland seasons before, the team came into the year with sky-high expectations. Pundits and supporters alike believed Cleveland could punch their way into the postseason and even compete for a Super Bowl if things broke the right way.

Instead, quarterback Baker Mayfield was hurt in Week 2 and his performance suffered the rest of the year. He finished the season with 3,010 yards and 17 touchdowns and 13 interceptions, according to Pro Football Reference. The team never seemed able to get out of neutral and played an up-and-down season.
