Elderly Woman Died From Neglect: Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner
The Cleveland Police Department said it is investigating the death of an elderly woman who died eight months ago as a homicide.
CLEVELAND, OH — The Cleveland Police Department said it is investigating the death of an elderly woman who died eight months ago as a homicide.
According to the police department, on Sunday, April 4, 2021 around 7:20 p.m. officers responded to 18920 Melville Rd. in connection with a wellness check for a 78-year-old woman.
Officers arrived on scene with EMS and found the woman in need of medical care.

Police said she was transported by private auto to Richmond Hospital. Because she had various injuries, she was admitted for treatment.
Police said two days later the woman died.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office took possession of the body, and on Dec. 10, 2021 the police department's homicide unit was notified that her death was ruled a homicide due to medical neglect.
The case remains under investigation.
The woman's name was not immediately known, if any arrests have been made or the injuries that may have contributed to her death.
