Flying this Holiday Weekend? 4th of July Air Travel Doesn't Need to be a Headache
If you're flying over the 4th of July weekend, these travel tips will make parking, baggage check, lines and extra security checks easier.

Cleveland, OH — Travelers can expect a surge in airport traffic over the first week of July.
Here are some tips for how to get around more easily and avoid complications at any airport. Remember, don't bring along fireworks. Do bring your extra patience and allow for extra time. The skies are still friendly, if you follow these tips from regional airports and the Transportation Safety Administration.
TIPS ON SAFE, EASY AIRPORT TRAVEL:

- Passengers are reminded that fireworks are prohibited in or around any Airport.
- Demand for parking over the holiday weekend is expected to be high — consider all parking options, as well as valet parking or lots with free shuttle service.
- Arrive early. Ninety minutes to two hours in advance for domestic flights and three hours for international flights is typically sufficient to check luggage and go through security. TSA Pre✓™ members can expedite the screening process.
- Passengers are typically allowed one small carry-on bag plus one personal item as long as the carry-on bag fits airline dimensions. Check with individual airlines for specifics. - Drivers picking up passengers at the airport are encouraged to utilize Cell Phone Waiting Lots.
- Travelers are encouraged to be aware of their surroundings and report questionable objects or activities, "If You See Something, Say Somethingâ„¢." To report a suspicious object or activity, dial 0 for the operator, dial 2-5000 from a white courtesy phone or notify an airport employee or a uniformed officer.

- Review Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) Traveler Information for a list of prohibited items and the 3-1-1 rule for liquids in carry-ons.
- There are specific rules and exceptions for passengers traveling with infant care items. Please visit TSA tips for traveling with children for more information.
- International travelers should check the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) website to ensure they have appropriate documentation for traveling to and from the United States. Note: Passengers who are members of the Global Entry Trusted Traveler Program can expedite their Customs clearance into the U.S. at John Wayne Airport. Those passengers traveling to and from Vancouver, Canada, will clear Customs in Canada before entering the United States.
