Johnny Manziel Update: New Lawsuit Filed for Breaking Bar Employee's Nose

Johnny Manziel continues to hang out in bars, get into fights and collect lawsuits.

AUSTIN, TX — In case you were wondering if Johnny Manziel had gotten his act together and somehow became eligible to play for the quarterback carousel known as the Cleveland Browns again, the answer is a resounding no. Apparently, Manziel continues to hang out in bars, get into fights and collect lawsuits like the Browns collect losses.

According to the Texas Our Texas Facebook page, Manziel was involved in an altercation at an Austin, Texas, bar called New York New York where he was a guest at a private party on Sept. 6.

According to the Eric Newton v. Johnathan Manziel filing, Manziel had a disagreement with Newton, a barback. According to the suit, Manziel asked Newton to make some drinks, but as a barback, making drinks is not part of Newton's job description. Instead, drink orders are placed with and made by the bartenders.

The party Manziel was attending was on the second floor, and the main bar was downstairs. The petition says that someone in Manziel's party was at the bar on the first floor and heard Newton expressing an opinion about Manziel and shared the conversation with the former Texas A&M star upon returning to the private room.

Upon learning what had transpired, an enraged Manziel went downstairs, dashed behind the bar, began swearing at Newton, then punched him in the face, breaking his nose, according to the complaint. After Newton took the punch, the two men tussled on the floor for a moment, then Manziel got up and ran out a rear employee exit before the police arrived, according to the suit.

Newton's lawsuit seeks actual and exemplary damages.

Manziel is also due to appear in a Dallas County courtroom Thursday for a hearing on his request to dismiss a misdemeanor assault charge against him in another case involving Manziel's ex-girlfriend.

Manziel's ex-girlfriend had accused him of kidnapping, beating and threatening to kill her. It's unclear whether or not the recent incident will affect the court case on Thursday.
