🏍️ Judge Sends Dirt Biker To Prison + 100-Year-Old Doctor + Spider-Man In Cleveland
Cleveland Daily: Catch up quickly on what you need to know this Monday across Northeast Ohio.
The Browns lost in the Brownsiest way on Sunday, giving up two big touchdown passes in the final minutes to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory — squandering a 30-17 lead and pushing the dumbfounded crowd into a chorus of boos. For the superstitious, the momentum turned as soon as CBS mentioned a 2-0 start, airing a graphic that showed gas cost just $1.05 a gallon in 1993 — the last time the Browns started a season with two wins.

It's All Fun And Games Until Someone Gets Sent To Prison

1) Brett Sieminski of North Ridgeville said he was sorry for tearing up Cleveland streets on his dirt bike, but a judge said she had little sympathy and sentenced him to 17 months in prison. Sieminski is the first dirt-bike rider to get a prison term for terrorizing city streets — he was charged with inducing panic and failure to comply with police. Sieminski's drivers license was suspended for a whopping 10 years. "This is dangerous behavior. It is not acceptable,” said Judge Nancy Margaret Russo. “This is terrifying to see this kind of behavior go on. It literally feels like you’re being invaded.”
2) Dr. Howard Tucker is 100 years old and is still practicing medicine as a neurologist in Cleveland. He is the world's oldest practicing physician, but that's not the most interesting thing about him. He's a WWII Navy veteran. He also earned a law degree. He was once airlifted off the Swiss Alps. He broke his neck and recovered. And now he's a TikTok star and the subject of a documentary film.

3) A local man who dons a Spider-Man costume to the delight of Greater Clevelanders says he does so to "spread joy." The 20-year-old asked Fox 8 News to keep his identity a secret, but said "being able to be the one to fill the suit and be in that moment with them is one of the most magical things I’ve ever experienced.” Kids and adults alike approach him for photographs and tell him how much the character of Spider-Man means to them.

4) Two more East Cleveland police officers were indicted Friday, accused of stealing money, drugs and guns in 2020 and 2021 while on duty. Willie Sims and Alfonzo Cole robbed people during service calls and traffic stops. Four other East Cleveland officers were indicted earlier this month for theft, bribery and other charges, while the police chief, Scott Gardner, faces 13 felony charges himself for theft and tax evasion.
5) Cinematheque will screen the 1924 short film "The Heart of Cleveland" for National Silent Movie Day on Sept. 30. The movie runs 29 minutes and features a story about two farm kids who fly to Cleveland to see the wonders of electricity! The movie was commissioned by, who else, the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company. A second silent movie will also be shown, a 1924 movie titled "Greed."

- Your gentle girl: "Mindy would like to borrow your lap! This sweet, sensitive, yet sassy lady is looking for a comfy, lower-key home to call her own. While Mindy finds the general chaos of the kennel overwhelming, she is so much happier in a home and with a routine. Once she settles in, she is polite and overall quiet. She is housebroken and can be left along during the workday in a crate or room of her own. Overall, Mindy is a more mellow gal with a moderate energy level, though she does still get bursts of playful energy when it's time to let loose, such as doing zoomies in the yard!"
