'You're Going To Get A Kiss With My Fist'

1) Cuyahoga County Jail Warden Michelle Henry was reprimanded for how she responded to an inmate with 16 felony convictions who asked for a kiss. "You're going to get a kiss with my fist," Henry replied. The violent felon also has been convicted of assaulting corrections officers. The county issued a statement about the April episode: "The incident followed all proper protocols – it was investigated by the Internal Affairs Unit, a disciplinary hearing was held by HR and a written reprimand was recommended. We stand by Warden Henry who has done amazing work over her last two years on behalf of Cuyahoga County.”
2) Timothy Loehmann, the Cleveland police officer who shot 12-year-old Tamir Rice to death in 2014, was hired this week in the small Pennsylvania community of Tioga Borough as a police officer. The mayor there, however, says he will not schedule Loehmann to work and claims the borough council never showed him Loehmann's resume nor shared his history.

3) Baker Mayfield's time in Cleveland is over. The quarterback who led the Browns to their first playoff win since 1994 was traded to the Carolina Panthers on Wednesday. In four seasons with the team, he threw for over 14,000 yards and 92 touchdowns. However, he also threw 56 interceptions and took 134 sacks.
Here's all the Baker Mayfield news, plus a cool Cleveland.com video recapping his Browns career
- Browns reporter Ashley Bastock writes about the QB's legacy: Baker Mayfield at a 2019 Indians game, making an appearance on the Progressive Field scoreboard, beer in hand. With one swift motion the mustachioed Mayfield bites into the can, shotguns the beer, then lets out a guttural yell, fists raised in victory. The move quickly became the stuff of Cleveland sports lore, on social media anyway. It was a quick moment that maybe perfectly encapsulates why Mayfield won over fans 30 and under. (Cleveland.com)
4) Over five days, more than 1,000 Ohio doctors signed a letter of dissent regarding Ohio's six-week abortion ban and the overturning of Roe v. Wade. The letter calls on the governor and other officials to repeal the so-called "heartbeat bill," saying it's not based in medical science. The doctors, who say the law endangers the lives of women, have formed the Ohio Physicians for Reproductive Rights, a group started by a Cleveland-area physician, Lauren Beene.
5) An innovative urban park will debut at Tower City Center this month. Called Skylight Park, the renovated urban green space is inside the Skylight Concourse. A dedication takes place July 16 from noon to 6 p.m. “Inspired by classic midwestern foliage, hand-selected and native to Ohio, (the park) will feature the Eastern Purple Coneflower and the Black-eyed Susan,” according to a press release.
