1) Cleveland Rock-n-Roll Legend Patricia Hanych Has Died

Do you remember Pat's in the Flats? The owner of the longtime Cleveland rock-and-roll bar, which closed in 2018, died Sunday. Patricia Hanych was 82. The bar was in business for six decades, opening in 1945 as Pickles under her father William's proprietorship.
- Shawn Mishak, who earlier this year set up a GoFundMe to help with Hanych's retirement, wrote a lovely obituary for Cleveland Scene, describing Hanych as "booking agent, confidant, bartender, pseudo-grandmother/aunt/mother of countless Cleveland musicians."
- Health issues forced her to give up the business. She died after a short bout with cancer. RIP, Pat.
- Friends may call for visitation at Kolodiy-Lazuta Funeral Home, 5677 State Road, Parma, Wednesday, June 15, 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral service at the funeral home, Thursday, June 16, at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Brooklyn Heights Cemetery.

2) 🎲 JACK Casino in Cleveland has now been in business for a decade, undergoing several changes in that time. “No one really understood the urban gaming market," General Manager Scott Lokke told Sean McDonnell in a story for Cleveland.com.
- The casino in the former Higbee building opened as the Horseshoe Casino on May 12, 2012. Dan Gilbert was the owner.
- Ohio rejected legalized casino gambling four times before finally saying yes in 2009.
- In 2021, public records show JACK Casino raked in $257 million — a record year. That fact is tempered by the predictions casino experts and advocates made in 2009 — that a Cleveland casino would post $473 million in annual revenue by 2021.

3) A Westlake native, Kristina Cho, won two 2022 James Beard Awards on Sunday in the categories of Baking and Desserts and Emerging Voice. Cho is a food blogger who published her first cookbook, "Mooncakes and Milk Bread: Sweet and Savory Recipes Inspired by Chinese Bakeries," last fall. She blogs at EatChoFood.com.
4) U.S. Marshals tracked down a man suspected of viciously beating to death a 1-year-old child in January. Latrell Wilson, 38, was taken into custody in Akron Tuesday afternoon. The child suffered broken ribs and head trauma. Said U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott: "Arresting this fugitive and bringing justice to the family was at the top of our priority list."
5) Elton John has been to Cleveland twice on his "farewell tour," and he's returning for a third gig this summer at Progressive Field on July 30. Will this really be the last show on the Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour? If you don't want to take a chance, tickets are still available for $125 and up.

"I have a great family. I have a great legal team. And I have a great support cast here in this organization. ... I never assaulted, disrespected or harassed anyone."
