In other Metroparks news, the Cleveland Metroparks just won a pair of awards from the Ohio Parks and Recreation Association. First, Metroparks CEO Brian Zimmerman took home “Professional of the Year” honors.

"I am humbled to receive this honor. As we enter our centennial year, I am proud of what our organization has accomplished and delivered to the community," Zimmerman said in a statement.

Second, the Cleveland Metroparks Rangers took top honors in the law enforcement category. This is largely because of their accreditation in the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) process. To achieve CALEA-accreditation, the agency had to compare all of its policies to the 188 standards considered best practice in law enforcement. The agency is now in the 4 percent of law enforcement agencies that are accredited.
