Snow Parking Ban Extended In Cleveland
Residents and commuters are asked to avoid parking on any city streets, if they can. Parking on snow emergency streets is prohibited.
CLEVELAND — Cleveland's snow parking ban has been extended to at least 8 a.m. on Tuesday, police announced.
The ban first went into effect on Sunday and was initially set to expire at 10 a.m. Monday. With additional winter weather expected throughout Monday, the ban has been extended.
During the ban, vehicles cannot stop or park on Cleveland's snow emergency streets, which are indicated with red-and-white signs.

"Parking is prohibited on designated snow emergency streets, which are identified as necessary for transportation, the movement of food and fuel supplies, medical care, fire, health and police protection and other vital facilities of the city. Significant snowfall can cause streets to become congested and impassable," the city said in a statement.
Any vehicles left on streets can block snow plows and make the clearing of snow nearly impossible, the city warned. Significant snowfall and clogged streets could hamstring the city's emergency services.

"For this reason, citizens are encouraged to avoid parking vehicles on all city streets to allow snow plows sufficient time to remove snow and ice from the roads. Vehicles in violation are subject to citation and towing," the city said.
