CLEVELAND — A winter storm will hit Northeast Ohio on Sunday night and Monday morning, according to current forecasts.

The snowbelt has the highest likelihood of getting heavy snowfall, according to the National Weather Service. Cleveland's eastern suburbs could get between 4 and 8 inches of snow, while counties further northeast could see even more accumulation. Between 8 and 12 inches of snow is possible in parts of Lake County and Geauga County.

Snow will fall primarily between midnight and 9 a.m. on Monday morning, forecasts said. The storm could hinder morning commutes and have "significant travel impacts," the National Weather Service warned.

The snow is expected to be heavy with "high water content," the agency said.

In addition to the heavy snowfall, winds could hit 20 to 25 mph, forecast said. That could further decrease visibility and create another hazard for drivers to contend with.
